Firstly, could you possibly be anymore insulting to the memories of Hendrix, Joplin, Jim, Pig and Brian mentioning this tabloid bad ju-ju trouble child in the same paragraph as this fine group of prodigious talent?

The more compelling news event is the psychopath in Norway who wrote a 1,500 page manifesto then channeled from the likes of Manson and Hilter and emulated the horrific events of Oklahoma City and Virginia Tech.

Ever notice in these sic puppy's faces the wandering eye or the stone cold one?

Where as a society do we fail to love our brothers and sisters so irresponsibly only to see them lose every aspect of rationality and take out senseless aggressions on their fellow persons?

Let me see I have this straight, Drunk Kochman. Are you insinuating that the bomber in Norway was responsible for the Oklahoma City bombing and the Virginia Tech shootings? Or is that just the booze talking? I mean, if you're going to hijack a thread, you might at least try to make sense.

Edit: Hey, nice edit, above, Rob. Always good to look over those drunken rants the next day to clean up the mess you left.

Totally agree with your comment, but probably Hendrix, Joplin, Jim etc. were in their time, tabloid bad ju-ju trouble childs. She was talented, just sick. I will say another prayer for everyone tonight.

Back in the 60's the few tabloids that may have existed were underground, not in the grocery store check out isle or on television.

There was no People Magazine, Entertainment Tonight, Jerry Springer, Maury Povich and all the other brain-dead media sensationalism.

American Bandstand was the American Idol of the day, teens appreciated the music industry talent by dancing to their top 40 songs, not imitating them on stage in "parrotesque" fashion. There was a plethora of original talent abound.

From time-to-time you'd read about Jim Morrison's shenanigans in Rolling Stone magazine.

However, i will agree with your assessment that much of the Rock n Roll in their day was a pathway to excess.

Steve Jobs & Apple make killer-iPads"
dead-head_Monte-obama-apple.jpg

My Administration and Your American Congress are working feverishly to ensure Steve Jobs and Apple kill every last American Manufacturing job. We give Steve Jobs and Apple low tax rates in return for Making American Billionaires richer. We're proud of the enormous incentives we give to Apple, HP, Dell, IBM, GE, and other great American Corporations to Kill America. We promise middle-class Americans that we will be outsourcing many, many more American Jobs.

George Bush, a.k.a. "dubya" said it best on Sept 12, 2001: "Go Shopping for iPads, iPhones, iPods, and Macs. The faster you buy products and services from Steve Jobs and Apple, the faster We Can Destroy America. Our Goal is to Eliminate ALL Good American Values."

Honorable Americans, we just eliminated thousands of NASA Jobs by Outsourcing America!

Come on folks;

Monte is a good man, an "industrial hippie" of sorts, perhaps, his message is sound except for the fact that America thrives on capitalism and only time may change that.

Monte brau, the i-pod didn't hit the market until the christmas selling season of 2001, the i-phone & i-pad were just pipe dreams in ol Steve Job's braintrust.

Steve loves music, owns a rather fat Mark Levinson/Wilson Audio music system, obviously loves the Beatles and has at least two Grateful Dead LP's transferred to digital.

Monte, you might consider shifting some of this anti-Apple energy towards the Oil Companies and the upcoming Republican shove of Rick Perry out of Texas and into the White House in 2012.

In a couple years, we'll look back on this era as "C'est la vie" with remiss.

Well said, TOOTMO! I'm right with you on this. At one point yesterday he was amending every couple of minutes. Very tedious. Monte - we get it, ok? You love Ampex, you hate Apple and you're a dope-smoking hippy. Now get off the damn soapbox!
